Tokyo, Japan - LINE Yahoo Corp. said on Wednesday that it has begun operating an artificial intelligence function that selects content topics for users of its Yahoo! JAPAN mobile application.

The "AI Highlight" feature uses generative artificial intelligence to process articles from content partners and identify topics related to user-selected themes, the company stated.

The system applies three analysis criteria: importance, freshness, and user relevance.

The function produces headlines for selected content and updates them periodically. Users access related articles by selecting the generated headlines within the application's content tracking section.

The company stated that the feature is currently available for themes including professional baseball, male idols, and automobiles.

LINE Yahoo has indicated that it will add topics gradually, noting that content may not be displayed for all tracked themes and that coverage topics may change.

The system uses OpenAI's application programming interface, according to the company.

LINE Yahoo stated it does not guarantee the reliability, accuracy, completeness, or effectiveness of AI-generated results.

The feature operates as part of LINE Yahoo's AI integration strategy across its services. T

The company aims to position itself as an AI-focused entity while developing its Yahoo! JAPAN application to meet user information requirements.
