Yahoo Shopping cuts approvals to 4.2% with AI security.

LINE Yahoo reports Yahoo Shopping store approval rates fell to 4.2% in H1 2025, down from 11.2% previous year, amid AI fraud detection.

Tokyo, JapanLINE Yahoo Corporation reported that approval rates for stores on its Yahoo Shopping platform declined to 4.2% in the first half of 2025, compared with 11.2% during the same period in 2024.

The company released its safety and security report for January through June 2025 on Monday, offering context for the recent statistics.

According to the report, stricter screening procedures contributed to the seven percentage point decrease in approvals.

New requirements introduced inventory verification audits and restrictions on applications using mobile phone numbers or free email addresses.

In April 2025, LINE Yahoo implemented artificial intelligence for product monitoring.

The company reported that violation detection rates increased to three times those achieved by previous methods.

The company removed 452,701 store reviews identified as fraudulent from 1,123 stores during the six months.

Automated deletion of fake store reviews began in February 2025, according to the report.

Credit card fraud damage declined by 41.2% compared to the first half of 2024.

The company attributed this decline to improvements in its fraud detection system implemented since April 2024.

Transaction trouble rates decreased by 74.6% year-over-year. The company stated it aims to achieve zero transaction troubles by 2027.

Product deletions from unauthorized brand retailers totaled 3,438 cases, a 50% increase from the previous year.

The average number of complaints per rights holder was 10.9 cases during the six months.

LINE Yahoo added water filter cartridges to its product screening list and implemented individual monitoring for government reserve rice and Nintendo Switch 2 products.

The company stated that it will enhance measures to prevent fraudulent acquisition of preferred store status and ranking manipulation.
