Yahoo Shopping Launches AI Product Comparison Features

Yahoo Shopping introduces beta AI features for automated product comparisons and review summaries on iOS app, expanding e-commerce AI capabilities.

Tokyo, Japan - LY Corp's Yahoo Shopping platform has launched beta artificial intelligence features that generate product comparisons and review summaries, the company announced Tuesday.

The new functionality expands upon Yahoo Shopping's existing AI-powered recommendation system, which suggests optimal purchase dates for earning points. 

The enhanced features are available on the iOS application, with Android compatibility planned for future deployment.

The AI system will generate an automated summary of customer reviews by identifying both positive and negative aspects of the product through keyword analysis.

Alongside this, the platform will reportedly compare similar alternatives to the consumer's chosen product, displaying pricing information, product characteristics, and review data in a consolidated format.

Users can access the feature through a dedicated button on the product page. 

The comparison tool reportedly presented multiple product options, allowing customers to evaluate alternatives within the platform's inventory.

LY Corp established its Generative AI Tackle Room in April 2024 to advance the implementation of artificial intelligence across Yahoo Shopping services. 

The initiative has reduced landing page creation time from one month to two hours through AI automation, according to company statements.

The platform operates on OpenAI's Application Programming Interface (API). 

LY Corp states it does not guarantee the reliability, accuracy, completeness, or effectiveness of AI-generated content. Standard user terms apply to the service.

The beta designation indicates potential service modifications or discontinuation without notice. 

Feature availability will vary across devices during the gradual rollout period. 

Certain products are excluded from the AI functionality, although specific criteria for this exclusion were not disclosed.

Yahoo Shopping represents a component of the company's broader digital commerce strategy within Japan's competitive e-commerce market.

The enhanced AI capabilities follow the February 2025 introduction of purchase date optimization features, which analyze promotional structures to recommend timing for maximum point rewards within three-day windows.
