Naver (KRX: 035420) has announced plans to expand the range of places where users can verify their visits and write reviews on its "My Place" feature.
The update will also introduce video reviews, allowing users to attach videos of their experiences to their reviews.
The new features will be rolled out first on the Naver Maps app, with future integration planned for the Naver app.
Natural and local landmarks will now include specific local information such as keywords, text, photo, and video reviews.
Users can log their visits and write reviews by searching for places they've been in "My Place" or uploading pictures and videos.
In addition, businesses that require payment, such as restaurants, cafes, and salons, can also be reviewed on My Place, with only verified receipts or card details appearing on the platform.
The new video review feature aims to help users capture their experiences more vividly, with the ability to upload up to 10 videos and use editing tools such as filters and cropping.
In addition, this update expands the venue information available to users before they visit a location and provides a more in-depth look at its features.
Naver's "My Place" is a local information platform that shares reviews of various locations in a social media feed format.
The platform has focused on promoting reviews as high-quality "local content" beyond "rating information."
Naver has also introduced a "profile" feature that allows reviewers to act as creators and write original reviews, as well as "follow" and "set interests" features to help users discover reviewers and places that match their tastes.
Since November, Naver has been running the "My Place" review mission program to make reviewing more appealing to users.
The head of the Place Review at Naver said, "We are excited to bring more local reviews to "My Place" with this update. In addition, we'll continue introducing more features to make "My Place" a place where users can enjoy writing reviews and connect with reviewers they like.
