Seoul, South Korea - NAVER's paid content platform, NAVER Premium Content, has reported a significant increase in its Gross Merchandise Value (GMV), tripling this year since its launch in February last year.

This development signals a significant shift in content monetization and revenue generation for creators.

Why It Matters:

The growth in GMV and user base of NAVER Premium Content indicates evolving trends in the digital content industry, particularly in how creators generate revenue.

The increase in monthly active users (MAUs) and expansion of content categories reflects the platform's growing influence in the content subscription market.

The Key Points:

  • As of December 2023, NAVER Premium Content has 6 million MAUs, with the number of channels and paid subscribers doubling in the past year.
  • More than 130,000 new pieces of content have been created on the platform this year alone.
  • In financial terms, the number of channels generating over KRW 1 million per month has more than tripled, with some channels generating over KRW 100 million in annual revenue.
  • The platform is showing growth in various content categories, including hobby/practical, trend/life, education/learning, culture/art, business/economy, and finance.
