Samsung Electronics (KRX: 005930) has announced the production readiness of its high-performance PCIe 4.0 NVMe SSD, the PM9C1a.

The new SSD features a controller based on Samsung’s 5-nanometer process and seventh-generation V-NAND technology.

As a result, the PM9C1a achieves 1.6X faster sequential read speed and 1.8X faster sequential write speed than its predecessor, reaching 6,000MB/s and 5,600MB/s, respectively.

It also offers up to 70% higher energy efficiency per watt.

The PM9C1a also features robust security measures and supports the Device Identifier Composition Engine (DICE) security standard, which generates cryptographic keys securely inside the SSD and provides device authentication to protect against supply chain attacks and attestation to protect against firmware tampering.

The SSD will be available in 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB sizes in an M.2 form factor.

Samsung’s latest SSD offering will significantly boost the computing and gaming performance of PCs and laptops, making it an attractive option for users looking for high-speed storage solutions.

In addition, the company has stated that it is committed to developing storage that meets the diverse and changing market needs while continuing to drive innovation in the PC SSD space.
