The South Korean government is considering exempting mobility startups from paying contributions to taxi companies.

The Mobility Innovation Committee, which reports to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, and Transport, wants to draw up a guideline for such startups.

The contribution fund was introduced as part of a revision of the mobility regulation act to reduce the number of cabs on the roads.

However, some have argued that it is unfair for small startups to pay a contribution fund to taxi companies.

The committee will hold its 6th and 7th meetings to discuss the issue.

The recommendations are expected to be announced to the government in September.

It is expected that the revision of the law will be implemented in the same month.
