Hyundai Unveils Aerodynamic Tech to Boost EV Range

Source: Hyundai Motor Company

Seoul, South Korea - Hyundai Motor Company and Kia Corporation have unveiled a new technology called Active Air Skirt (AAS) to reduce aerodynamic drag and improve the driving range of electric vehicles (EVs).

The AAS system is hidden when not in use but automatically deploys at speeds above 80 km/h (50 mph) to cover the lower front bumper area around the wheels.

This helps control the airflow and minimize turbulence that increases drag.

Tests on the Genesis GV60 show a 2.8% reduction in the vehicle's drag coefficient, which could translate into an additional 4 miles of range.
