Seoul, South Korea - SK Telecom (NYSE: SKM) announced an update to its AI-based personal assistant, "A.," bringing enhanced call-related features to Android users.

The update includes "A. Call Translator," which enables real-time call interpretation.

This feature has only been available on iOS devices since December 2023.

SK Telecom has also introduced "AI Spam Indicator," which helps users identify potential spam and phishing calls by displaying a spam score when receiving calls from unknown numbers.

The feature is powered by SK Telecom's AI Spam Detection System, which continuously analyzes abnormal patterns of phone numbers.

While iOS users can already access the AI Spam Indicator, Android users can expect the feature in April.

The update also includes Biz Contact, a phonebook feature that makes finding phone numbers for businesses and organizations not stored in users' contacts easier.

This feature is now available for both iOS and Android platforms.

Kim Yong-hun, SK Telecom's Chief AI Service Officer, commented on the update, saying that it will further enhance users' communication experience and that the company will continue introducing AI-powered services to bring new value to customers.

SK Telecom subscribers can register to access the upgraded AI-based calling features.

In contrast, non-SK Telecom subscribers can continue to use the A. app for call recording, call summary, and other everyday assistance features.
