Tokyo, Japan - SoftBank, in collaboration with the National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST), has developed a system that optimizes the placement of application components to maximize throughput while meeting strict delay constraints.

The project, funded by the New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO), is expected to revolutionize the post-5G landscape.

The new system achieved a remarkable processing time of 14.8ms, exceeding the 25ms delay constraint target for the V2X use case.

In particular, it doubled the effective throughput compared to edge-only processing, demonstrating its superior performance.

SoftBank expects the developed system platform to provide an environment for developing and operating 5G digital services with open interfaces.

SoftBank plans to conduct practical application verification for use cases such as autonomous driving and Smart Factory Transformation through demonstration experiments using 5G devices and MEC.

SoftBank envisions this system platform as a catalyst for developing and operating 5G digital services, offering open interfaces to facilitate seamless integration.
