BLACKPINK: Members, Net Worth, Collabs & Fame Breakdown

Source: Blackpink

When the group debuted in August 2016 with their single album – Square One, no one knew a South Korean girl group formed by YG Entertainment could write a phenomenon history worldwide.

A. The Members of BLACKPINK.

1st June 2016, YG Entertainment revealed Jennie.

Joining YG Entertainment as a trainee in 2010, YG Entertainment exposed Jennie with the photo “Who’s that Girl?” in April 2012.

Jennie continued to be promoted as a member of the new girl group with multiple collaborations, such as starring in G-Dragon’s 2012 music video “That XX” from One of a Kind EP and featuring in G-Dragon’s “Black” from 2013 album Coup d’etat, and Lee Hi’s “Special” from 2013 album First Love.

Lisa was revealed to the public as a second member on 8th June 2016.

Among 4,000 applicants in YG Entertainment audition in her motherland Thailand in 2010, Lisa became the first foreign trainee to join the label in 2011.

She was first introduced in 2012 with a video posted on YG Entertainment’s official YouTube channel titled “Who’s That Girl???”

Lisa also appeared in the music video for Taeyang’s “Ringa Linga” in 2013. She then took on her first modeling job in 2015 for streetwear brand Nona9on, followed by modeling for cosmetics brand Moonshot in 2016.

A week later, when Lisa was revealed, 3rd member said hello to the public. It was Jisoo.

Joined YG as a trainee in July 2011; she appeared in several advertisements and music videos, such as “Spoiler + Happy Ending” (2014) from Epik High’s studio album Shoebox and Hi Suhyun’s music video “I’m Different” (2014).

A week later, the last member – Rose – was revealed.

She ranked first among 700 applicants in the 2012 YG Entertainment audition in Australia, resulting in a trainee contract with the label and a move to Seoul to begin her training.

She was featured in G-Dragon’s track “Without You” from One of a Kind EP in 2012, then credited as “? from YG New Girl Group”. However, her vocals and identity were kept secret for almost four years until her first official public introduction, when it was revealed that she participated in the song.

B. The Leader of BLACKPINK.

Unlike other South Korean girl groups, BLACKPINK officially has no leader. All members are leaders who let them help and solve problems with each other by collaborating.

“We decided to go without a leader of BLACKPINK. Because the four of them spent such a long time together, whenever a project is suggested to them, they discuss it together for the results.”Yang Hyun Seok – Founder of YG Entertainment

However, there are some views that Jennie is the Unofficial Leader of BLACKPINK.

During its early announcements, Jennie was positioned as the group’s leader since she trained the longest, is an incredible singer, can dance well, and is fluent in three languages.

Furthermore, Jennie talks and gives instructions that will make the performance successful, not just with her members but the staff.

As someone who trained for five years, it’s no surprise she’s more knowledgeable.

C. Who is the prettiest member and most famousprimarily member of BLACKPINK?

According to the TCCAsia’s Most Beautiful Faces in Asia 2019 list, Lisa was sitting pretty No.1.

Jennie was the 2nd prettiest member, positioning at No.3. According to the Southeast Asia survey, Rose (13) and Jisoo(22) placed 3rd and 4th.

From a Quora post, the eyes on the beauty mean different. As the hottest member of BLACKPINK,

  • From Korean Beauty Perspective: Jisoo, Jennie, Rosé, Lisa.
  • From American Beauty Perspective: Jennie, Rosé, Lisa, Jisoo.

All BLACKPINK members are famous. The ranking would be unmeaningful.

Lisa is the most famous member.

Lisa was the most engaged account in the Instagram Awards 2019. She has 44.2 million followers on Instagram.

For brand marketers, Jennie is primarily a beloved member. According to the Korea Brand Reputation Center, she is one of the highest-ranked entertainers in the South Korean market. She has 37.2 million followers on Instagram.

Rosé has the most followed Instagram account after Lisa and Jennie. Rosé was also given a special award as the “Most Engaged Video Post” on Instagram for Rosé and Jennie’s video enjoying Coachella.

The video has more than 10.8 million views. She is also the Global Ambassador for YSL Saint Laurent.

Jisoo has the most followed Instagram account after Lisa, Jennie, and Rosé. She also tops Korea’s brand reputation ranking, following Jennie. Jisoo is also a Dior Beauty Ambassador.

D. The Net Worth of BLACKPINK.

According to Yaay, Jennie, Rosé, and Jisoo are worth around US$8 to 9 million each, with Blackpink as a group worth approximately US$35 million.

Lisa is the richest and the most prominent member of BLACKPINK. Her background in Thailand and influence in the motherland set her apart from the other BLACKPINK members.

The 23-year-old has an individual net worth of $10 million.

She has accumulated a massive chunk of it through ads and endorsements. The K-pop queen is the brand ambassador of the luxury fashion house Prada. She also endorses famous brands, including CelineBulgari, and MAC.

Jennie has also been a brand ambassador for Chanel and the beauty brand Hera.

Jennie is also the only member of BLACKPINK to have released solo music. The singer and rapper dropped her single, “Solo,” in 2018. Some sources report that with these extra jobs included, Jennie’s net worth could be as high as $8 million.

Rose is also an ambassador for the cosmetic brand Kiss Me. She’s also signed an endorsement deal with Perfect World Mobile, a game by Perfect World Entertainment. But perhaps Rosie’s most high-profile deal is as a brand ambassador for Yves Saint Laurent. Her net worth is likely around US$ 6 to 8 Million.

Jisoo has her brand deals to make cash outside of BLACKPINK. Rosie is the face of the South Korean cosmetics brand Kiss Me. Jisoo also is an ambassador for Dior Beauty. Her net worth is likely around US$ 6 to 8 Million.

E. Collaboration with the great artist.

They know how to collaborate. And here are the collaboration songs about how the South Korean girl group rock a collab.

“Ice Cream” by Blackpink and Selena Gomez

The upbeat bubblegum track melds Gomez’s vocals with the members’ sweet vibe, and the music video couldn’t be more fitting. Ariana Grande and Victoria Monét have songwriting credits, adding another layer to the fun collaboration.

“Sour Candy” by Lady Gaga and Blackpink

Another retro dance single, “Sour Candy,” combines Lady Gaga and Blackpink members’ contrasting styles, bringing us an exciting collaboration. Off of Gaga’s Chromatica, the song is a classic bop.

“Kiss and Make Up” by Dua Lipa and Blackpink

Released in October 2018, this dance-pop hit marked one of Blackpink’s first collaborations. While a music video was not released, Dua Lipa joined Blackpink to live together at one of their concerts.

“Bet You Wanna” by Blackpink feat. Cardi B

The highly-anticipated collaboration featuring Cardi B is set to drop on Oct. 2 with the rest of The Album

For more understanding, the pickool team recommends you to watch the Blackpink: Light Up the Sky on Netflix.

The director – Caroline Suh, tells the South Korean girl group Blackpink as bandmates and individuals and details their rise to fame.

The film was released two weeks after Blackpink’s first studio album, The Album, and has been described as “an endearing documentary emphasizing each member’s individuality.
