Seoul, South Korea - Naver Corp (035420. KS) announced on Friday that its research paper on search technology has been accepted for presentation at EMNLP 2024, a leading global conference on natural language processing.

The paper, which focuses on Naver's AI-powered search service "CUE:, "will be presented at the conference scheduled for November 12-16 in Florida, United States.

This marks Naver's entry into the 28th iteration of EMNLP, which, alongside NAACL and ACL, is considered one of the top AI conferences globally.

Naver has applied the research findings to enhance its search services.

The company has improved the relevance of search results in CUE by enhancing automatic information extraction for various formats in "Knowledge Snippets " and increasing accuracy in answering long-tail queries.

The accepted research includes a study on using Small Language Models (SLM) to detect harmful queries and provide appropriate responses, which has been applied to CUE: since November of the previous year.

Another paper proposes a method for effectively processing complex snippet formats, such as lists and tables, in the "Knowledge Snippets" service.

Naver has expanded its web search index scale by 50% and strengthened its AI-based technology to emphasize high-credibility content.

In August, the company refined its machine learning methods for identifying trustworthy documents and improved ranking methods to assess the reliability and expertise of content sources.

Naver plans to apply the newly developed technology to strengthen the quality of its overall search services, including expanding exposure to high-quality content and prioritizing answers from highly reliable sources.

The company aims to implement these improvements in the first half of next year.

In addition to EMNLP, Naver has published search technology-related papers in other prestigious conferences this year, including NAACL, CVPR, and SIGIR/LLM4Eval.
