Las Vegas, Nevada / Tokyo, Japan - Sony Corporation (TYO: 6758) announced its entry into immersive technology with a new spatial content creation system.

The system, which includes an XR head-mounted display and controllers, is expected to transform industries, including entertainment and industrial design.

The head-mounted display is designed for comfort, with an ergonomic design and a convenient flip-up mechanism for easy transitions between real and virtual worlds.

The Details: Key Features and Specifications

The XR head-mounted display features a 4K OLED microdisplay that promises realistic interactions with 3D objects. It covers much of the DCI-P3 color space for accurate color reproduction.

The display's split rendering technology ensures stable, high-resolution visuals, which is critical when working with large 3D models.

The system includes a ring and pointing controller for natural and precise interaction in 3D virtual environments.

The dual controller setup with keyboard integration facilitates efficient modeling of 3D objects with a focus on creativity and precision.

It is powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon XR2+ Gen 2 platform, which enhances display performance and supports advanced user and space tracking features.

Collaboration with Siemens

Sony's partnership with Siemens aims to leverage the system for the industrial metaverse.

The collaboration focuses on Siemens' Xcelerator software, which enhances product development and industrial design through immersive tools.

What Comes Next

Sony plans to release this spatial content creation system later in 2024.

Details on specifications, release date, pricing, and compatibility will be announced.

The system aims to redefine creative workflows in everything from entertainment to product design, opening up new possibilities for collaboration.
