Seoul, South Korea - Korea Startup Forum opens registration for South Korea's largest startup event, COMEUP 2023.

Why it matters:

Organized by the Korea Startup Forum, COMEUP 2023 is designed to bring together key players in South Korea's startup ecosystem.

The event will offer various opportunities for startups and investors, making it a notable date in South Korea's entrepreneurial calendar.

The Key Points

  • The event will be held from November 8-10 at the Dongdaemun Design Plaza (DDP) in Seoul. Online registration is open through November 6.
  • About 150 investors from global venture capital firms and corporations will participate in a business matching program called Bizmatching.
  • COMEUP 2023 will feature several segments, such as "COMEUP Stars 2023," "Future Talk," and "OI Groun," aimed at facilitating startup growth and investor relations.
  • Other programs, such as "COMEUP X" and "On the COMEUP," are designed to support global dialogue and facilitate startup-investor relations, respectively.

The Big Picture:

The Korea Startup Forum aims to serve as a platform for various stakeholders in the startup ecosystem, including aspiring entrepreneurs, startup employees, and investors.

One of the critical aspects of the event is the business matching program, Bizmatching.

Around 150 investors, including global venture capitalists and large corporations, have registered for this program.

It allows startups to meet several investors during the event, with an online version also available.

Sungjin Choi, CEO of Korea Startup Forum, said the event would emphasize a "bottom-up, private-sector-led method".

The event will feature the "COMEUP Stars 2023" accelerator program, which uses a tournament-style selection method to allow startups to receive intensive mentoring from venture capital firms and accelerators.

Forty teams from the Rookie League and 30 from the Academy League will compete in preliminary pitch sessions.
