Samsung Launches AI-Powered Washer-Dryer Combo in Europe

BERLIN, Germany / Seoul, South Korea - Samsung Electronics (005930. KS) announced the European launch of its Bespoke AI Laundry Combo, an all-in-one washer and dryer appliance, at IFA 2024 in Berlin.

The space-saving device, introduced at IFA 2023, combines washing and drying functions in a single unit. It leverages artificial intelligence and heat pump technology to optimize laundry cycles and energy efficiency.

Samsung claims the washer cycle is up to 20% more efficient than the A-grade energy efficiency class threshold, while the combined wash and dry cycle meets A-grade standards.

The appliance features an AI Wash & Dry system, which uses sensors to determine optimal settings for each laundry load, adjusting water, detergent, and cycle times accordingly.

The device's control hub, a 7-inch LCD dubbed AI Home, can manage other connected home appliances. 

The updated Bixby voice assistant allows more complex voice commands and supports device-related questions.

Moohyung Lee, EVP at Samsung Electronics, said the company aims to provide customers with "a more convenient and energy-efficient laundry experience" by integrating AI and heat pump technology.

The Bespoke AI Laundry Combo will be available in various European markets starting in the fourth quarter of 2024. 

Samsung did not disclose pricing information.
