Samsung Upgrades Bixby with Enhanced AI for Home Appliances

Seoul, South Korea—Samsung Electronics announced on Monday that it will update its voice assistant Bixby with enhanced AI capabilities for home appliances starting August 27. 

The upgrade aims to improve Bixby's comprehension of complex commands based on natural language. 

The enhanced Bixby will feature three main capabilities: understanding complex commands, recalling previous conversations, and responding to product-related questions. 

These updates will be available on five 2024 product models, including the Bespoke 4-Door Refrigerator with AI Family Hub and Bespoke AI Laundry Combo. 

The upgraded assistant can process multiple requests in one sentence and control other SmartThings-connected devices. 

It can also engage in ongoing dialogues by remembering past conversation contexts.

Samsung is also introducing a Generative Wallpaper feature for refrigerators with Family Hub. 

This feature allows users to create custom wallpapers by selecting themes and art styles. 

The company plans to showcase these AI-enhanced appliances at IFA 2024, demonstrating how the new features will improve user experience. 

Miyoung Yoo, EVP at Samsung Electronics, stated that the upgrades aim to enhance consumers' lives by enabling easier appliance use and a more personalized experience.
