Seoul, South Korea - Autonomous a2z reported that its autonomous vehicle fleet has surpassed 1 million kilometers in cumulative driving distance, while its Level 4 shuttle, ROii, has carried over 10,000 passengers, the company said on Wednesday.

As of May 15, the company's vehicles logged 1,023,355 kilometers across 13 domestic municipalities and international testing locations, which include Tokushima Prefecture in Japan and a shuttle route for Grab employees in Singapore.

On the same date, the ROii shuttle reached a cumulative total of 10,132 passengers.

The ROii is a Level 4 autonomous shuttle developed by the company, utilizing 96 percent localized components.

The vehicle operates without a steering wheel or driver's seat and incorporates a redundant architecture designed to maintain operations during sensor malfunctions or communication failures.

Ten ROii units are currently deployed across four regions in South Korea: Seoul (Cheonggyecheon), Anyang, Ulsan, and Gyeongju.

Founded in 2018 by former Hyundai Motor engineers, Autonomous a2z operates a fleet of 82 autonomous vehicles.

The company received its first temporary autonomous driving permit in 2018 and previously reported cumulative distances of 200,000 kilometers in 2022 and 500,000 kilometers in 2024.

The company said it plans to obtain Level 4 performance certification between late 2026 and early 2027 to begin mass production and supply vehicles to municipalities, public agencies, and transport operators.
