Backpackr Attracts $17.6m in Series C Investment for Expansion into Global Markets.

Backpackr, a South Korean company that operates the handmade market platform ‘Idus‘ and the crowdfunding platform ‘Tumblbug,’ has raised KRW 20 billion ($16.1 million) in a Series C funding round. 

The round was led by Singapore-based Axiom Asia Private Capital and Vanderbilt University’s Office of Investments, with participation from Altos Ventures and Stone Bridge Ventures. 

The funds will expand the company’s presence in Southeast Asia, Japan, and the U.S. and improve infrastructure and services for businesses and personnel. 

Backpacker has been profitable since July 2020, has a cumulative transaction amount of KRW 1 billion, and more than 35,000 active handmade writers and creators on its platform.
