San Francisco, CA / Tokyo, Japan - Cellares and Sony Corporation announced a collaboration to integrate Sony's cell sorting and analytical technologies into Cellares' Cell Shuttle, an automated cell therapy manufacturing platform.

The integration aims to enable the Cell Shuttle to automate the manufacture of sorting-dependent therapies such as regulatory T cell (Treg) and hematopoietic stem cell (HSC) treatments.

The companies expect the collaboration to enhance real-time monitoring of cell quality and quantity, potentially improving the efficiency and scalability of cell therapy manufacturing on the Cell Shuttle.

Cellares' Cell Shuttle is designed to automate and integrate all cell therapy manufacturing unit operations within a closed environment.

It is capable of producing 16 cell therapy batches in parallel.

Sony will leverage technologies from its CGX10 Cell Isolation System to develop new solutions for the integration.

The companies said the collaboration is expected to make the Cell Shuttle the first fully automated, end-to-end cell therapy manufacturing solution with cell analysis and sorting capabilities.

Cellars CEO Fabian Gerlinghaus stated the integration would extend the company's automated manufacturing capabilities to meet the needs of more cell therapy developers.

The companies did not disclose financial terms or a specific timeline for the integration.
