SEOUL, South Korea — Hyundai Motor Group announced the formation of the "MobED Alliance" at the Automation World 2026 (AW2026) trade event in Seoul, with the aim of commercializing its Mobile Eccentric Droid (MobED) platform in South Korea.

The alliance establishes a cooperative framework for the development and deployment of the mobile robot for business-to-business and business-to-government applications.

The partnership includes 10 component suppliers, including Hyundai Transys Inc. and SL Corporation, which are expected to provide sensors, electronics, and batteries.

Five robotics solution firms, including LS THiRA-UTECH Co. Ltd. and Kaon Robotics, will develop customized operational solutions.

Public agencies, such as the Korea Association of AI Robot Industry and the Korea Planning & Evaluation Institute of Industrial Technology, are participating in support of industry demonstrations.

According to Hyundai Motor Group Robotics LAB, the alliance intends to develop up to 10 industry-specific modules for the MobED platform.

Planned applications include outdoor delivery, drone stations for security patrols and digital signage systems.

MobED is a mobile platform designed for both indoor and outdoor operation, featuring automatic self-leveling capabilities to accommodate uneven surfaces.

Hyundai previously exhibited the platform at the Consumer Electronics Show in 2026 and the International Robot Exhibition in 2025.

Dong Jin Hyun, Vice President and Head of Hyundai Motor Group Robotics LAB, described the MobED Alliance as a collaborative framework intended to extend the platform.

He stated that the company is seeking to move beyond traditional corporate partnerships and toward concrete commercialization in South Korea through an ecosystem involving public agencies, robotics firms, and component suppliers.

Hyundai is demonstrating the MobED platform at a 180-square-meter booth at the COEX Convention and Exhibition Center from March 4 through 6.

The exhibit features the MobED Basic and MobED Pro models in manual and autonomous driving zones, as well as demonstrations of use cases in broadcasting, delivery, and loading. Purchase consultations are available on-site and via the Robotics LAB website.
