Hyundai Motor Company and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) have been named finalists in the Media category of the 2023 South by Southwest (SXSW) Innovation Awards for their “for Tomorrow” project.

Launched in 2020, the initiative is a “bottom-up innovation platform” that celebrates local innovators and their solutions to global challenges such as transportation, housing, and the environment to create a better future.

The For Tomorrow project has collected 84 solutions proposed by innovators from 52 countries.

The SXSW Innovation Awards honor technological advancement and creativity, and this year the Media category was added to recognize projects that improve communication.

Hyundai Motor and UNDP will exhibit the “for Tomorrow” project and screen the documentary as part of the Finalist Showcase at Griffin Hall, JW Marriott Austin.

Winners will be announced at the 25th Annual SXSW Innovation Awards Ceremony on March 13 at the Austin Convention Center.

The documentary “For Tomorrow” was produced by global creative agency Sid Lee, director An Tran, and award-winning documentary filmmaker Elliot V. Kotek.

Last year, the film won seven awards at the Cannes World Film Festival, the New York International Film Awards, and the Montreal Independent Film Festival.

It won 13 awards in five countries, including the Gold Anthem from the Webby Awards and the Jury Award at the Quetzalcoatl Indigenous International Film Festival in Mexico last month.
