FOUNTAIN VALLEY, CA, USA - Hyundai is introducing a new offer that provides free ChargePoint Home Flex Level 2 chargers and up to $600 off installation for customers who purchase or lease specific new electric vehicle (EV) models.

Why it matters.

The move aims to encourage EV adoption by reducing two common barriers: the initial cost of charging infrastructure and the complexity of installation.

The Key Points

Hyundai aims to simplify the home charging experience for its customers through the Hyundai Home Marketplace.

The Marketplace offers a range of home electrification options, including solar panels and energy storage systems.

In partnership with Electrum, Hyundai also provides energy advisors to help customers navigate the installation process and any local permitting requirements.

  • The offer applies to 2023 or 2024 IONIQ 5, IONIQ 6, and 2023 Kona Electric models financed through Hyundai Motor Finance between September 21 and October 31, 2023.
  • Buyers have 90 days to schedule installation of the charger, valued at $549 MSRP, with an additional $600 installation credit for a total value of more than $1,100.
  • A dedicated Energy Advisor from Electrum will guide buyers through the charger installation.

The Big Picture

José Muñoz, president and global COO of Hyundai Motor Company, said the offering is designed to remove barriers for potential EV buyers concerned about charging infrastructure.

The company aims to provide a streamlined experience for customers by leveraging Electrum's home energy expertise and national network of certified installers.

By offering this incentive, Hyundai aims to ease consumer transition to EVs.

The effort is part of the automaker's broader strategy to promote sustainable mobility and capitalize on the growing interest in electric vehicles.
