Seoul, South Korea - Backpacker Co.'s handmade commerce platform Idus has launched a Japanese language service on its global application, the company announced Monday.

The South Korean platform, which first expanded overseas in 2023 with an English-language app, has served more than 45,000 customers in 138 countries.

Japanese customers have emerged as particularly valuable, spending three times more per person than domestic users.

The platform has added Japanese language support and yen payment options in response to customer requests.

The company completed localization through professional translation services and large language model technology.

Idus offers overseas shipping agency services for South Korean creators, allowing them to use the same procedures as domestic shipping.

An automatic translation feature facilitates communication with international customers.

CEO Dong-hwan Kim cited Japan's position as the world's fourth-largest e-commerce market, valued at approximately KRW 210 trillion, and its consumer appreciation for handicrafts as factors in targeting the market.

The company operates a Global Creator Registration Program that includes regular education, logistics support from warehousing to customs clearance, and social media marketing for creators seeking international expansion.
