Kakao (KRX: 035720)’s Gift has launched a new gift certificate for hotel bookings. It’s Kakao’s Gift’s response to the growing trend of spending anniversaries in hotels, especially among Millenials and Generation Z.

The gift certificate is designed to reduce hassle for both the gift giver and the recipient by allowing the gift giver to purchase a gift online quickly and the recipient to book a hotel on their schedule.

The company has launched gift certificates for four- and five-star hotels in the Seoul metropolitan area and major tourist cities, including popular hotels such as Seoul Shilla, Lotte, Chosun, Hyatt, and Paradise Hotels & Resorts.

The program is expected to expand to 50 hotels shortly.

Gifting plans to gradually increase the number of bookable hotels and introduce various packages in the future, including gifts that combine hotel accommodation and F&B.

The company also plans to sell merchandise from each hotel to help customers remember their vacation.

“We have introduced hotel reservation gift certificates for users who want to give hotel gift certificates for special occasions. The recipient and the sender can conveniently purchase and redeem the gift certificates, so we expect a lot of interest from Gifting users.” said a Kakao Gift spokesperson.

In response to the pandemic, COVID-19 Gifting has expanded its range of products for outings.

Recently, the company launched the “Hot Pass,” a mobile gift certificate that can be redeemed for free at participating cafes and restaurants in Seoul hotspots Seongsu, Iksun, and Seochon.
