KT and LG Electronics Partner to Pioneer 6G Technology

Seoul, South Korea—KT Corp (NYSE: KT) and LG Electronics (066570. KS) announced a collaboration on Tuesday to develop 6G mobile communication technology and advance global standardization efforts.

The partnership will focus on developing full-duplex communication technology, cooperating on global standardization, and identifying differentiated 6G applications.

Full-duplex technology allows simultaneous uplink and downlink data transmission on a single frequency band, potentially doubling spectrum efficiency.

The companies plan to develop and verify the performance of full-duplex communication devices operating in candidate 6G frequency bands.

They will strengthen their global leadership in 6G technology research, development, and standardization.International bodies like the ITU and 3GPP are currently working on identifying new 6G services and establishing performance indicators.

3GPP aims to complete 6G base station and device standards by 2029.

KT and LG Electronics expect this collaboration to bolster their positions in 6G technology development and global standardization efforts.

Both companies expressed commitment to securing innovative network technologies for differentiated services.
