Seoul, South Korea—KT Corporation (NYSE: KT) announced the commercial launch of an artificial intelligence-powered voice phishing detection service that identifies and alerts users to suspicious calls in real-time.

The AI system analyzes ongoing conversations to detect potential voice phishing attempts.

When using this service, the user will immediately receive a message asking them to hang up. If voice phishing was previously a reactive measure, it is now a proactive measure to prevent accidents through early warnings.

KT said the technology detects user patterns and specific keywords based on voice recognition and natural language processing.

The system is designed to identify various fraudulent approaches, such as impersonating financial institutions and requests for personal information.

KT Corporation validated the service through beta testing with approximately 100 internal experts and customers, focusing on system stability, service accuracy, and user experience enhancement.

In October 2024, the telecommunications company received regulatory approval from the Ministry of Science and ICT through the ICT Regulatory Sandbox program.

In the second quarter of 2025, the company plans to expand its capabilities to include the detection of known voice phishing perpetrators and artificially generated deepfake voices.

The service is accessible to Samsung device users across all telecommunications carriers through the WhoWho application.
