Seoul, South Korea - KT (NYSE: KT) announced the successful completion of trials for its hybrid quantum-secured Virtual Private Network (VPN) service, marking a significant advancement in secure communications technology.

The trial implemented hybrid quantum security from the transmission network to customer segments, combining Quantum Key Distribution (QKD) and Post-Quantum Cryptography (PQC) technologies.

The two-week demonstration was conducted on a simulated network between the Defense Ministry and Land Ministry, with physical infrastructure implemented at KT's R&D Center and Kookmin University.

The system integrates QKD technology in the transmission network to prevent physical line tapping, while the VPN employs PQC technology designed to resist potential quantum computer-based attacks.

The project was carried out with the quantum information communication technology demonstration project led by the Ministry of Science and ICT and the National Intelligence Agency (NIA).

"KT is continuously strengthening its communication security services to respond to rapidly changing security environments," said Je-hoon Myung, head of KT Enterprise Communications Business Division, adding that the company aims to contribute to strengthening domestic quantum industry capabilities.

The company expects to deploy the hybrid quantum-secured VPN service across various public sector projects, enhancing communication security standards.
