Seoul, South Korea—LG Electronics announced on Monday that it has acquired a stake in Mo-Sys Engineering, a developer of virtual production solutions and camera robotics.

The strategic seed investment aims to expand LG's virtual production and broadcasting technology capabilities.

The partnership will enable LG to offer a more comprehensive range of hardware and software solutions for virtual production studios, which are gaining popularity among TV broadcasters, corporations, and educational institutions.

LG, known for its display technology, already provides Micro LED and LED screens for virtual reality studios and extended reality stages.

The collaboration with Mo-Sys will allow LG to offer a fuller range of solutions, including seamless integration of LG's LED displays and controllers with Mo-Sys's XR products and systems.

Paik Ki-mun, senior vice president at LG Business Solutions Company, said the partnership would deliver unique value to customers by combining LG's display technology expertise with Mo-Sys's virtual production solutions.

Michael Geissler, CEO of Mo-Sys Engineering, stated that LG's investment would enhance the company's R&D efforts and drive sustainability in production solutions.

LG plans to showcase its virtual production solutions at the International Broadcasting Convention 2024 in Amsterdam this September.
