Seoul, South Korea / Frankfurt, Germany - LG Electronics (066570. KS) has announced plans to establish a new Air Solution Research and Development (R&D) Lab in Frankfurt, Germany.

This new facility's primary objective is to develop high-efficiency heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) solutions for Europe's diverse climates.

The 10,000-square-foot facility will join existing laboratories in South Korea and the United States, forming a global research and development triangle.

The facility will research and test residential and light commercial HVAC systems, including heat pumps and energy management platforms.

LG aims to reinforce its European HVAC enterprise by enlisting local heat pump design and smart home technology expertise.

The laboratory will collaborate with the company's European Consortium for Advanced Heat Pump Research to develop heat pumps that can withstand the extreme temperatures characteristic of Northern Europe's winters.

This strategic relocation coincides with a substantial growth anticipated in the European HVAC market, driven by the implementation of EU energy policies, including the REPowerEU plan and the Green Deal policy, which aim to reduce energy consumption and carbon emissions.

LG's HVAC solutions, particularly high-efficiency heat pumps, are competitive due to the company's advanced core component technology.

The company is developing and manufacturing essential components, including compressors and motors.

To facilitate growth in the business-to-business sector, LG is developing a comprehensive local system for its HVAC business in Europe.

This system will encompass research and development, sales, maintenance, and customer service.

Moreover, the company has expanded its network of HVAC academies to 62 locations in 43 countries, with over 30,000 HVAC engineers trained annually.
