Seoul, South Korea - LG Electronics (066570. KS) has obtained certification for its self-developed 5G private network solution, marking its entry into the growing market for customized high-speed networks.

The company received the "Domestic Network Equipment Certification" from the Korea Association of Network Industries, becoming the first in the 5G private network industry to do so.

The certification recognizes LG's internalization of core 5G private network technologies and allows the company to supply its solution to public institutions in South Korea.

LG's software-based approach enables faster data processing and improved stability compared to traditional hardware-based systems.

A 5G private network is a customized network deployed in specific areas like factories and buildings. It offers high-speed data transmission and exceptional stability.

It is a vital foundation for digital and AI transformation (DX/AX) innovations and smart factory operations.

LG's certified 5G private network solution leverages advanced software to handle network functions typically managed by traditional 5G equipment, such as Radio Access Network (RAN) and 5G Core.

This software-based approach allows for faster data processing and improved stability.

It also enables upgrades without hardware replacement, significantly lowering operational costs.

The company's solution offers customization options for various client needs, including high-security environments and integration with external cloud services.

LG also provides a device control platform for managing connected equipment, including LG's products, such as robots and digital signage, and clients' existing equipment, like CCTV and smart safety devices.

With this certification, LG plans to pursue enterprise and public 5G private network initiatives, targeting sectors such as smart factories and more.

The company holds approximately 30,000 telecommunications patents, including many related to 5G, ranking it among the world's top innovators.

LG has tested its solution at various sites, including its Tennessee factory, a smart factory in Chungbuk, a logistics center in Incheon, and a university hospital in Seoul.

Last year, LG formally added a "facilities-based telecommunications business" to its portfolio, positioning itself for full-scale commercialization of its 5G solutions.

The global 5G private network market is projected to grow from approximately $2 billion in 2023 to around $11.8 billion by 2028, with a projected annual growth rate exceeding 40 percent, according to market research firm MarketsandMarkets.
