CAMBRIDGE, MA—MIT has established the GenAI Impact Consortium to explore generative artificial intelligence technologies.

SK Telecom (NYSE: SKM) is a founding member.

The consortium represents a collaboration between academia and industry to examine commercialization opportunities and industry implications of generative AI.

MIT faculty members published 25 papers on generative AI the previous year.

Anantha Chandrakasan, Dean of the MIT School of Engineering and MIT's Chief Innovation and Strategy Officer, will lead the consortium under MIT President Sally Kornbluth's strategic initiative.

The consortium includes five additional founding members: OpenAI, The Coca-Cola Company, Tata Group, Analog Devices, and TWG Global.

Research projects will commence in 2025.

SK Telecom will utilize its membership to support its SK AI R&D Center operations.

The center functions as SK Group's AI technology control tower, managing AI-based initiatives in modeling, vision AI, digital twins, and AI factories.

The company plans to focus on applications in ICT, semiconductors, and energy sectors.

The collaboration aims to expand into physical AI, manufacturing, and biotechnology through convergent Vertical AI applications.
