Naver Enters AI Commerce Race with 'Naver Plus Store' App Launch

Seoul, South Korea - Naver Corporation launched a new artificial intelligence shopping application called "Naver Plus Store" on Wednesday, entering the growing AI commerce sector.

The application is available only on Android devices, with an iOS version expected to be released soon. 

The app leverages Naver's HyperClova X AI technology to analyze product data and combine it with user preferences and purchase history to deliver personalized recommendations.

The new platform introduces an "AI Shopping Guide" feature that initially covers electronics such as laptops, mobile phones, refrigerators, and air conditioners. 

The guide categorizes products for laptop searches based on specific use cases like design work, portability, and gaming.

Naver Plus Store also features a "Discovery" tab that offers short-form video content of trending products across various categories. 

After viewing 30-second promotional clips, users can make immediate purchases.

To promote adoption, Naver offers first-time users a 10% discount coupon with a maximum value of 5,000 KRW (US$3.44) on purchases over 20,000 KRW (US$13.77). 

From March 17 to 30, the company will host a promotional event with over 6,000 partner retailers, providing daily 10% discount coupons for purchases over 20,000 KRW and 15% for purchases over 50,000 KRW (US$34.43).

Coinciding with the app launch, Naver upgraded its logistics service to "Naver Delivery," offering same-day delivery for orders placed before 11 a.m., next-day delivery for later orders, and Sunday delivery options. 

Naver Plus members receive free shipping on purchases over 10,000 KRW (US$6.89) and complimentary returns and exchanges.
