Naver Launches 3D Street View Service in Major Seoul Districts

Seoul, South Korea - Naver Corp launched an enhanced three-dimensional street view service on its Naver map platform, expanding its spatial intelligence capabilities in key commercial districts across Seoul.

The company said in the press release that its new "Street View 3D" service enables users to explore locations with enhanced depth perception and access detailed information about buildings and businesses directly within the panoramic view interface.

The service was initially deployed in central Seoul districts, including Gangnam, Mapo, Songpa, Yongsan, Yeongdeungpo, Jongno, Jung-gu, and Bundang district in Seongnam city.

Naver plans to expand coverage to additional areas gradually.

The technology utilizes Naver Labs' proprietary P1 panoramic mapping system, which incorporates high-performance navigation sensors and LiDAR technology to aggregate and synchronize spatial data with enhanced accuracy compared to traditional street view implementations.

New features include indicators for building entrances and parking locations, automated route playback for virtual street navigation, and enhanced directional information at intersections based on road signs and landmark data.

Naver Maps service head Seung-rak Choi said the platform will introduce additional functionalities, such as real-time congestion information and popular restaurant menu items, to create a more immersive mapping experience.
