Seoul, South Korea- NomadHer, a South Korean startup that operates a global travel app for women, has raised KRW 1 billion ($747,000) in a pre-Series A funding round.

The round was led by domestic venture capital firms, including NBH Capital, CNT Tech, and Chungnam-NCK Digital Tourism Association of Cosnet Technology Investment, with K-Bridge Investment also participating.

Founded in late 2019, NomadHer has built a platform that allows women to connect with fellow travelers, share experiences, and access curated travel programs.

The app, which requires users to verify their identity through government ID and selfie checks, has amassed a community of 200,000 authenticated female globetrotters.

Hyojeong Kim, NomadHer's chief executive, emphasized the unique value proposition of community-based services.

"As time passes, they develop a value that becomes increasingly difficult for large corporations to replicate with technology or capital alone."

she said.

The fresh capital will be deployed to accelerate growth, develop monetization strategies, and forge new partnerships.

NomadHer has already secured collaborations with Uber, SK D&D's Episode, and L'Oreal Group, positioning itself at the intersection of travel, technology, and lifestyle brands.

The company aims for ambitious expansion, targeting a community of 1 million verified female travelers by 2025.

NomadHer is exploring additional funding opportunities with venture capital firms in Singapore and Europe to fuel this growth.

While the current valuation remains undisclosed, the start-up has previously secured over KRW 1.7 billion ($1.27 million) through government programs, including selection for the Ministry of SMEs and Startups' TIPS scheme and top placement in the Korea Tourism Organization's Global Tourism Challenge Program for 2024.

As global tourism rebounds, NomadHer is betting on the continued rise of solo female travel, which has gained momentum in recent years.

The platform receives over 1,000 travel companion requests monthly and boasts an average user session time exceeding 40 minutes, is particularly popular among travelers from North America and Western Europe who visit destinations such as Seoul, Tokyo, Bali, and Paris.
