Samsung Electronics and DISH Network Corporation have deployed an initial shipment of 24,000 Open RAN-compliant radios and 5G virtualized RAN software solutions across the United States, launching Samsung-supported sites for the DISH Wireless 5G network.

DISH Wireless and Samsung have advanced their collaboration since their multi-year agreement in May 2022, moving from field testing to activating the first Samsung sites within the DISH Wireless 5G network.

Samsung provided its comprehensive 5G solutions, including its virtualized distributed unit (vDU), virtualized central unit (vCU), and Open RAN-compliant 5G radio equipment.

The company also built new dual-band and tri-band Open RAN-compliant radios for this deployment.

The DISH Wireless Open RAN ecosystem was built with other leading companies such as Dell, VMware, AWS, and others.

Samsung-supported DISH 5G network sites are being deployed and tested.

DISH Wireless and Samsung will continue to innovate within the DISH Open RAN architecture to provide reliable and fast customer service, accelerate 5G adoption, and help lead the nation in delivering next-generation connectivity.
