Seoul, South Korea—Samsung Electronics (005930. KS) has developed the inaugural Compute Express Link (CXL) infrastructure, which Red Hat has certified.

The facility, situated at Samsung's Memory Research Center in Hwaseong, South Korea, directly verifies CXL-related products and software.

The infrastructure has been designed to facilitate accelerated product development and streamline the Red Hat registration process.

Using the recently established setup, Samsung has validated its CMM-D product, a CXL Memory Module DRAM solution.

The collaboration between Samsung and Red Hat encompasses the certification of hardware and software products.

At the recent Red Hat Summit, Samsung demonstrated the CMM-D1 embedded in Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9.3, showcasing enhanced performance for deep learning recommendation models.

The companies aim to expand the CXL memory ecosystem by introducing new technology standards.

The objective is to develop solutions for various user systems, integrating Samsung's hardware expertise with Red Hat's open-source software to create a comprehensive and integrated solution.

This partnership may have implications for future developments in creating AI models and high-performance computing systems.

Nevertheless, the full extent of these potential advancements remains to be observed.
