Samsung Expands Galaxy S24 Line with New FE Model, Bringing AI Features to More Users

Seoul, South Korea—Samsung Electronics (005930. KS) unveiled the Galaxy S24 FE on Friday, expanding its flagship smartphone line to offer premium features and artificial intelligence capabilities to a broader market.

The new model incorporates the same Galaxy AI tools as the existing S24 series, including features for enhanced communication, productivity, and creativity. 

It sports a 6.7-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X display with a 120Hz adaptive refresh rate and is powered by Samsung's Exynos 2400 series chipset.

Key features include an AI-enhanced camera system with a 50MP wide lens and an 8MP telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom, equipped with optical image stabilization. 

A 12MP ultra-wide lens and a 10MP selfie camera complete the setup. 

The device leverages Samsung's ProVisual Engine, an AI-driven camera system that improves low-light performance and image quality at various zoom levels.

The S24 FE offers AI-powered editing tools, such as Generative Edit for moving and removing objects and Portrait Studio for reimagining selfies in various artistic styles. 

Additional features include Edit Suggestions for quick fixes and Instant Slow-mo for creating slow-motion effects from regular videos.

Samsung emphasized the S24 FE's gaming performance, citing a vapor chamber 1x larger than its predecessor for improved cooling, a 4,700mAh battery, and compatibility with advanced features like Ray Tracing. 

The device also features Vision Booster technology to optimize color and contrast for clear viewing in sunlight.

The company highlighted several AI-driven productivity features, including:

• Circle to Search with Google for instant search results
• Interpreter for real-time translation of in-person conversations
• Live Translate for breaking down communication barriers on phone calls
• Composer from Samsung Keyboard for generating suggested text
• Note Assist for streamlined note-taking, including transcription and summarization capabilities

Samsung stated that the S24 FE incorporates recycled materials in various components, including plastics sourced from discarded fishing nets and water barrels and recycled aluminum and glass. 

The device will receive seven generations of OS upgrades and seven years of security updates, addressing growing consumer demand for longer-lasting devices.

The Galaxy S24 FE is protected by Samsung Knox, the company's multi-layer security platform that safeguards critical information and protects against vulnerabilities.

Samsung will begin taking orders for the Galaxy S24 FE on October 3. The device will be available in five colors: Blue, Graphite, Gray, Mint, and Yellow. 

It will come in three memory configurations: 8GB+128GB, 8GB+256GB, and 8GB+512GB.

Charging capabilities include wired charging up to 50% in around 30 minutes with a 25W adapter (sold separately), fast wireless charging, and Wireless PowerShare for charging other compatible devices.
