Seoul, South Korea - Samsung Electronics Co Ltd (005930. KS) has announced the expansion of its Samsung Health app capabilities.

The update will include access to health records, medication management, and food tracking features, which will be made possible through partnerships with major healthcare data providers.

The update allows users to access medical records from major U.S. health networks through a partnership with b.well Connected Health, connecting Epic Systems, Cerner Health, and Veradigm.

The health records feature provides users with insights and alerts related to preventative care, suggesting medical tests or actions based on their health history.

Users can access a comprehensive medical history in a single location, including vaccination records, prescription information, past hospital visits, and specific test results.

The company is expanding its medication tracking feature, previously launched in the United States, to South Korea and India.

In collaboration with Elsevier, the U.S. medication tracking service offers alerts for over 960 types of allergies and potential medication reactions.

In South Korea, Samsung has formed a parpartnerednership with the Korea Pharmaceutical Information Center, which warns users about medications that may be unsafe during pregnancy.

In India, Tata 1mg offers its users online medication refills.

The medication feature includes a visual pill bottle scanning capability and an intuitive dashboard for monitoring dosage schedules and missed doses.

Company data indicates that approximately two-thirds of U.S. users use the medication tracking feature at least three times weekly.

Additionally, Samsung has introduced barcode scanning for food tracking in collaboration with Fat Secret.

It will initially be available in the United States and select European markets, including France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, and Poland.

The food tracking feature automatically records nutritional data and caloric intake when users scan food barcodes.

The new features are compatible with smartphones running Android 10.0 or later and the latest version of the Samsung Health app (version 6.28 or later).

Samsung has stated that these developments reinforce the capabilities of its digital health platform, with plans to integrate these features with Galaxy AI for enhanced wellness experiences on a global scale.

The company has stated that the features are intended for general wellness and fitness purposes only and are not to be used for medical condition detection, diagnosis, or treatment.
