Seoul, South Korea—Samsung Electronics (005930. KS) has introduced a new artificial intelligence feature to create bespoke 4K wallpapers for its high-end television sets.

This latest development expands the company's artificial intelligence capabilities in home entertainment.

According to the company's press release, the Generative Wallpaper feature will initially be available on 2024 Neo QLED and QLED models.

It is scheduled to launch in South Korea, North America, and Europe this month, with global availability planned for 2025.

The new functionality, integrated into Samsung's Ambient Mode, enables users to generate high-resolution background images by selecting from various preset themes, including "Happy Holiday" and "Party."

The system is based on the company's proprietary Tizen operating system.

Samsung Electronics has indicated that the feature can be accessed via the television's Ambient Mode menu, which also displays a range of practical information, including weather updates, news, and information on when the TV is inactive.

Executive Vice President of Samsung's Visual Display Business, Cheolgi Kim, posited that the feature "introduces a novel dimension of personalization to our customers' screens."

The company indicated that the AI-generated visuals are specifically designed to harmonize with users' home environments, though the precise technical details of the generation process were not disclosed.
