Sony Deploys Record 240-Camera Setup for Super Bowl LIX Coverage

Sony provides unprecedented camera coverage for Super Bowl LIX with 240+ cameras, enhancing broadcast and photography capabilities.

New Orleans, LA—Sony Corporation will provide over 240 cameras for coverage of Super Bowl LIX on February 9, when the Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles will play at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans.

FOX Sports, the official broadcaster, will operate over 100 broadcast cameras in collaboration with Game Creek Video. 

The deployment includes 97 Sony HDC Series Broadcast System Cameras, one Sony FR7 Cinema Line PTZ camera, three Sony FX6 Cinema Line Cameras, one Sony Alpha 7 III Mirrorless Camera, and one VENICE 2 Full-frame Digital Cinema Camera.

FOX Sports will utilize Sony BVM reference monitors for color gradation and HawkREPLAY systems for instant replay capabilities. 

Fourteen cameras will be dedicated to streaming content.

The Associated Press will deploy 14 photographers and nine editors and use over 55 Sony cameras. NFL Focus, the league's in-house photography team, will operate eight Sony cameras.

After producing their fifth consecutive Super Bowl Halftime Show, Funicular Goats will employ 13 Sony VENICE 2 Digital Cinema Cameras, one Sony VENICE Extension System, and one Sony BURANO Digital Cinema Camera for ASL coverage.

Sony's Professional Support team will maintain an on-site equipment depot with 65 Sony Full Frame Mirrorless Cameras and 140 Professional Lenses. 

The lens array includes fourteen 600mm, ten 400mm, and six 300mm super telephoto lenses.

The Associated Press and NFL photography teams will use Sony's PDT-FP1 transmitter device to transmit real-time photos and videos to editors.
