Tokyo, Japan - The Tokyo Metropolitan Government announced that SusHi Tech Tokyo 2025, Asia's largest startup conference, will be held from May 8-10 at the Tokyo Big Sight International Exhibition Center.

The event will focus on artificial intelligence, quantum technology, and food tech and aims to address sustainability challenges in urban environments.

According to the press release, the conference targets participation from 500 globally exhibiting startups and venture capitalists, 5,000 business meetings, and 50,000 visitors.

Governor Koike Yuriko announced that the first two days will be dedicated to business activities, while the third day will be open to the public.

The announcement was made at Tokyo Innovation Base, a startup center operated by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government.

The conference expects increased participation from its 2024 edition, which drew 434 startups, 60% international representation, and 40,000 visitors from 82 countries.

Corporate participation is set to expand from 29 to approximately 40 large companies.

Toshiba Corporation CEO Taro Shimada, Breakthrough Energy Vice President Ashley Grosh, and Berkeley SkyDeck Executive Director Caroline Winnett will speak at the conference.

It anticipates 500 investors and venture capitalists attending.

The SusHi Tech Challenge, the event's startup pitch competition, will select twenty semi-finalists in March 2025 for presentations to investors.

The program includes "EmpowerHER" sessions on diversity and inclusion and student-led workshops on business development from the ITAMAE project.

Launched in 2023, the initiative aims to generate solutions for urban sustainability through technology innovation.

Tokyo is tenth globally and fourth in Asia in the Startup Genome rankings.
