Web Summit Sells Out Lisbon Event, Set to Release Attendance Data

Web Summit's flagship tech event in Lisbon hits record attendance with 70,000 participants, 3,000 companies, and $60.6B in startup funding success.

Lisbon, Portugal - Web Summit announced on Monday that its 2024 flagship technology conference in Lisbon has officially sold out.

The preliminary data shows that the event has attracted 70,000 attendees, 3,000 exhibiting companies, 1,000 investors, and 2,000 global media representatives, making it the conference's most prominent gathering.

A Web Summit and Crunchbase report indicate that companies at the 2023 event raised $60.6 billion in funding, with startup program participants securing $755 million. 

Participating startups averaged $5.5 million in annual funding, exceeding the industry average of $3.3 million.

The conference features 1,200 women-founded companies and 500 firms participating through the Impact program, which aligns with UN sustainable development goals. 

Over 100 investors focusing on impact investments will attend, mainly targeting agritech, cleantech, and renewables sectors.

International participation includes 60 trade delegations from approximately 40 countries. Germany and Brazil each send 80 startups, while Ukraine and Serbia will present 24 companies each. Ireland's delegation includes 36 startups.

Corporate partners include Adobe, IBM, Alibaba, SAP, Meta, Dell, Visa, Qualcomm, and KPMG. Notable speakers include Microsoft President Brad Smith, Bumble CEO Lidiane Jones, and World Wide Web founder Sir Tim Berners-Lee.

The event runs through November 13. It features networking events across 100 venues in five Lisbon districts, a Food Summit with over 100 vendors, and a dedicated Wine Summit showcasing Portuguese producers.
