wrtn Secures KRW 83 Billion in Series B Funding

Seoul, South Korea — AI service platform wrtn Technologies announced on Monday that it has secured an additional KRW83 billion (US$56.6 million) in funding, completing its Series B round at KRW108 billion (US$73.6 million).

The investment follows a KRW25 billion pre-Series B round from June last year, bringing wrtn's total raised capital to approximately KRW130 billion (US$88.6 million).

Goodwater Capital led the new funding as a first-time investor, joined by existing backers including BRV Capital Management, Capstone Partners, Woori Venture Partners, Sui Generis Partners, Antler, and Z Venture Capital.

wrtn reached 5 million monthly active users in October 2024, achieving this milestone in 22 months, faster than domestic platforms Toss (39 months) and Danggn Market (24 months). 

The company's monthly revenue grew from KRW 1 billion in November to KRW 22 billion in December, primarily due to its character chat service.

The company plans to launch its character chat service as a separate platform called "Crack" on April 3 and update its main service with AI search, productivity tools, and personalized AI functions next month.

According to industry sources, wrtn has become the first AI service platform in South Korea to exceed KRW100 billion in cumulative investment, excluding companies focused on large language models or semiconductors.
