Seoul, South Korea - AI translation company XL8 has signed a contract with the Tokyo Metropolitan Government to provide its real-time interpretation solution, EventCAT, for the SusHi Tech Tokyo 2026 conference.

XL8 was selected as the event’s official technology partner, according to the company.

The event is scheduled from May 27 to 29 at Tokyo Big Sight and will host more than 500 teams, including corporate, institutional, and municipal representatives.

The conference will focus on four technical themes: artificial intelligence, robotics, resilience, and entertainment.

XL8’s EventCAT is scheduled to be used across main sessions and side events to support simultaneous interpretation in more than 50 languages, the company said.

According to XL8, the software uses Simultaneous Machine Translation combined with a streaming-based voice recognition engine, which the company says reduces translation latency by approximately 70 percent compared with traditional sequential translation methods.

The system's underlying models are trained on conversational data that undergoes automated verification and human expert review.

XL8 is also expected to operate a demonstration booth during the conference, where attendees can test the real-time voice and subtitle interpretation technology, including support for Japanese.

The contract follows XL8’s participation in the Startup JAPAN EXPO 2026, held April 15 to 16, where the company met with Japanese corporate and government officials.

Founded in 2019, XL8 operates the EventCAT interpretation solution alongside MediaCAT, an AI localization platform for video content.

XL8 reports it has previously supplied translation solutions for business meetings and large-scale conferences for more than 1,000 corporate and institutional clients worldwide.
