Tokyo, Japan — Yahoo! Japan has introduced an AI-generated tourism route planner feature in its search results.

The recently implemented function, accessible via smartphones, suggests up to five themed itineraries when users search for tourism information about specific locations.

The AI-powered tool offers route options labeled as "Classic," "Family," "Girls' Trip," "Friends," and "Date," which are designed to provide users with suggestions tailored to their travel preferences.

Each itinerary comprises a map, a list of transportation methods between locations, and an estimation of the travel times.

In response to user demand for guidebook-style regional introductions and model courses, Yahoo! Japan developed this feature.

This demand was corroborated by the findings of an internal company survey on tourism and travel needs.

The service currently encompasses approximately 200 areas, focusing on prefectures and major municipalities across Japan.

The application is accessible via the LINE application, the Yahoo! JAPAN application (iOS and Android), and the smartphone browser version of Yahoo! JAPAN.

LINE Yahoo Corporation has stated that its objective is to continue enhancing its search functionality and providing readily comprehensible information that addresses a range of user queries and challenges encountered in daily life.

It should be noted that the aforementioned feature utilizes the OpenAI API, which introduces a degree of uncertainty regarding the reliability, accuracy, completeness, and validity of the AI-generated results.
