Yahoo Japan has revamped its restaurant search results on Yahoo! search to include images of dishes alongside their names and prices.
The platform anticipates a spike in restaurant searches in April when schools and businesses start their new year.
Yahoo! search recently conducted a survey that revealed a high demand for food prices when searching for a restaurant.
The company is launching this feature to provide users with valuable, seasonally relevant information.
Covering more than 300 cuisines and 800,000 restaurants across Japan, the new search feature allows users to compare restaurants more easily.
When searching for restaurants in specific locations, users will see up to six images of dishes and their names and prices.
To further refine the search, users can apply filters such as “distance,” “takeout available,” “coupons available,” and “PayPay payment accepted.
In mid-May, the number of ratings and reviews for each dish will be added to the images, and users can read reviews by tapping on the image.
Yahoo! JAPAN is committed to providing users with accessible information that addresses their everyday questions and concerns.
The updated feature is compatible with smartphones and reflects survey data collected from 3,929 people between the ages of 15 and 69 between February 13 and 16, 2023.
