Web Summit Qatar Debut a Sell-out; 12,000 Tech Leaders Attend

DOHA, Qatar - The inaugural Web Summit Qatar, positioned as the largest gathering of international startups in the Middle East to date, is officially sold out.  

The conference will welcome 12,000 attendees and over 1,000 startups from 80 countries to Doha next week.

The conference reflects the growing interest in the region's burgeoning entrepreneurial community. 

Startups from Africa will be strongly represented, with nearly 200 companies in attendance. 

In addition, over 100 participating startups fall under the "tech for good" impact program, and nearly a third of all startups represented were founded by women.

Web Summit CEO Katherine Maher said, 

"This is a testament to the tremendous energy around founders and technology in the Middle East and beyond."

The conference is also expected to attract significant attention from the investment community, with 500 investors expected to attend. 

Key participants include GV Ravishankar (Peak XV), Noor Sweid (Global Ventures), Christine Tsai and Khailee Ng (500 Global), and Ali Alwaleed Al-Thani (Invest Qatar).

Speakers at Web Summit Qatar include Emmy Award-winning comedian Trevor Noah, Bollywood star Nora Fatehi, WPP CEO Mark Read, and Whoop CEO Will Ahmed.
