LINE Slashes AI Assistant Price, Offers GPT-4 for 200 Yen

Tokyo, Japan—LY Corporation announced a significant price reduction for its "LINE AI Assistant" service, reducing the monthly fee from JPY 990 to JPY 200.

The service, which utilizes OpenAI's API, will now offer access to the latest GPT-4o model at a reduced rate.

The AI assistant, integrated into LINE's messaging app with 97 million users, aims to make generative AI more accessible for everyday use.

Since its February 2024 launch, over 890,000 users have been added to the official LINE account.

Key changes include:

• Paid plan reduced to JPY 200 per month, offering full functionality
• Free plan discontinued
• The trial plan now offers ten free uses, regardless of the period

The company has removed the analysis feature and will provide a three-month free subscription to existing paid users as of July 9.

LY Corporation states that the price reduction is intended to encourage AI adoption in users' daily lives.

The service supports various tasks, from general inquiries to recipe suggestions and file translations.

The company plans to continue developing new AI-driven initiatives to enhance user experience and contribute to more convenient lifestyles through internet technology.
