Seoul, South Korea - KT (NYSE: KT) and Korea University have signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to collaborate on applied AI technology research and development.

The agreement, signed in Seoul, aims to enhance AI technology and strengthen business competitiveness. 

Key aspects of the partnership include joint R&D projects, the establishment of a shared research center, and collaborative use of GPU resources for academic research.

KT and Korea University will appoint co-directors for the joint research center: KT's Executive Vice President of Technology Innovation and Korea University's Vice President for Research. 

A six-member advisory committee will support decision-making for AI technology research projects.

The collaboration will focus on developing Korean Vertical SLM, Responsible AI, and Model of Mixture technologies, with ongoing development planned until the end of 2025.

KT will provide high-performance GPU infrastructure to support the joint AI research initiatives. 

The company plans to flexibly utilize both internal and external GPU resources to enhance overall AI value chain performance and quality.

KT CEO expressed enthusiasm for the partnership, stating the company aims to establish itself as a global AI-ICT firm and contribute to Korea's development through this collaboration.
