Seoul, South Korea - LG Electronics (066570. KS) announced its entry into the smart factory solutions market, leveraging its 66-year manufacturing expertise combined with artificial intelligence (AI) and digital transformation (DX).

The company's Production Engineering Research Institute (PRI) extends its services to external clients, offering production consulting, equipment and operation system development, and technology personnel training.

In its inaugural year, LG anticipates securing orders worth approximately KRW 200 billion ($156 million) from external clients for its smart factory solutions.

The company aims to develop this business into a multi-trillion-won enterprise by 2030, excluding revenue generated within the LG Group.

Significant clients include secondary battery manufacturers, automotive parts manufacturers, and logistics companies.

LG plans to expand into industries with growing factory demand, such as semiconductors, pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, and food and beverage.

The global smart factory market is projected to grow from $155.61 billion this year to $268.46 billion by 2030, according to market research firm Precedence Research.

LG's smart factory solutions integrate 770 terabytes of manufacturing data accumulated over the past decade with AI and DX technologies.

Jeong Dae-hwa, head of LG PRI, stated, "We will offer optimal smart factory solutions at every stage – from planning and design to construction and operation – becoming the ideal partner that supports our clients throughout their entire production journey."

The company has filed over 1,000 patents related to smart factory solutions.

The solutions offered include production system design using Digital Twin technology, AI-based management of quality and industrial safety, and various industrial robots such as Autonomous Mobile Robots (AMR) and Mobile Manipulators (MM).
